On Sunday, FC Twente and Feyenoord, the reigning champions,
will square off at De Grolsch Veste, one of the top teams in the early stages
of the Eredivisie.
The two teams are
separated by just one point and one spot in the standings going into the
weekend, with Twente in fourth place and Feyenoord in third. Twente's unbeaten
streak now stands at nine games after their most recent league victory over
Vitesse.
Coming into the
game on Sunday, FC Twente is coming off a 2-2 draw with Heracles last weekend,
where they lost their winning run of three games without giving up a goal.
They are vying for
a top-four spot in the Eredivisie after winning their last three games against
Vitesse, Heerenveen, and Fortuna Sittard. A victory would put them one point
ahead of Feyenoord in third place.
After losing 1-0
away to RKC Waalwijk more than a month ago, which remains the only game in
which they failed to score, Twente's draw with Heracles was only their second
point loss of the season.
With four wins from
four games and just two goals allowed, Twente is also one of just five clubs
remaining unbeaten at home in the Eredivisie.
While PSV Eindhoven
is now leading the league, Joseph Oosting's team is still far behind.
Both AZ Alkmaar and
Feyenoord have scored goals in each of their last four home games.Nevertheless,
Feyenoord will be elated ahead of Sunday's match after defeating Lazio 3-1 in

straight games in the Eredivisie after defeating Vitesse 4-0 last weekend. This
is an incredible run of success, as they have scored four goals or more in five
of their seven games.

Feyenoord might

Before Sunday's
match, the only players missing for the Dutch champions are Yankuba Minteh and
Gernot Trauner.
Trauner, a center
back, was forced to be substituted off due to injury during the team's 3-2
Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid. Lutsharel Geertruida, who replaced
him in defense, has scored a goal in the team's 4-0 victory over Vitesse since
then.

scorer in the 2023–24 Eredivisie so far, Santiago Gimenez is Feyenoord's most
