This weekend's Marine Corps Marathon will result in road closures and runners in Arlington.

One of the biggest marathons in the world will take place in Arlington this weekend, with some 30,000 participants.
However, locals should be ready for road closures, whether they are driving, riding, or scootering, due to the invasion of athletes.

Participants in the 48th annual Marine Corps Marathon will assemble along Route 110 between Arlington National Cemetery and the Pentagon on Sunday, October 29. At 7:15 a.m., the MCM 50K race gets underway. The wheelchair/hand cycle division and the marathon follow at 7:50 and 7:55 a.m., respectively. The website for the race states that participants would "tour the nation's most recognizable landmarks while being supported by the men and women of the United States Marine Corps."
There will be road closures in Arlington from 3 a.m. until 6 p.m., affecting I-395 between Rosslyn and Crystal City. The starting site in Arlington, the first mile in Rosslyn, Crystal Drive in Crystal City, and the finish line next to the Marine Corps War Memorial are among the local viewing locations for spectators.

Using social media, email, or text messaging, friends and family may follow runners in real time.
Upon finishing, competitors and onlookers can proceed to Rosslyn's Finish Festival, located at Wilson Blvd. and N.Lynn Road. From 8a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be giveaways, live music, food, and beer at the festival.
According to ACPD, the Pentagon and Pentagon City Metro stations are open starting at 5 a.m. and lead to the Runner's Village, which is situated in Pentagon North Parking Lot C.

Between the Fashion Center at Pentagon City and Runner's Village, there will be a shuttle service available. The race website states that parking in the underground lot at 23rd Street S. and Crystal Drive will be free of charge.
The start and finish locations will undergo security screenings to check for prohibited goods such as pets, drones, and alcohol.
On Saturday, October 28, registration is still open for the 50K and 10K races as well as the mile-long kids run. The kids run, which is free for kids aged 5 to 12, is scheduled to happen from 9:20 to 11:40 a.m. at the North Pentagon Parking Lot.
