Jenna Ellis, a former Trump lawyer, enters a guilty plea in a Georgia election meddling lawsuit.
Atlantis: In the Georgia case involving election meddling, attorney Jenna Ellis has entered a guilty plea.
Ellis is the fourth defendant to enter a guilty plea in the large racketeering case that centered
on attempts to keep then-President Donald Trump in office following his loss to
Joe Biden in 2020.
Just before their trial was to start last week, attorneys Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell
filed guilty pleas. Earlier last month, bail bondsman Scott Hall entered a
guilty plea.Ellis entered a guilty plea to one felony count of aiding and
abetting false statements and writings in return for truthful testimony in
subsequent trials. On two counts, including racketeering, she had been accused.
The plea agreement also stipulates 100 hours of community service, a letter of apology to the
people of Georgia, five years of probation, $5,000 in restitution to the
Georgia Secretary of State's office, and five years of probation.
Ellis' accusation is based on statements made by Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Ray Smith
during a subcommittee hearing of Georgia's Senate Judiciary Committee on
December 3, 2020, in which they alleged widespread election fraud.
Tens of thousands of children, felons, and deceased persons allegedly cast ballots in Georgia's
2020 election, according to Guliani and Smith, both co-defendants in the
Georgia case. Ellis entered a guilty plea to encouraging this evidence, which
the prosecution claims was meant to persuade the lawmakers to ignore Biden's
victory in Georgia.
The former president's federal election meddling trial is set to start in March, so it is
unlikely that a Georgia trial will start before next spring.
