Breslin, Abigail Aaron Eckhart was allegedly "aggressive" and "demeaning," according to a lawsuit
One of the film's actresses, Abigail Breslin, was sued on
Friday by the Bulgarian producer of an espionage thriller, who claimed that her
"imaginary" and "hysterical" accusations against co-star
Aaron Eckhart had jeopardized the movie's release.
The movie "Classified" was made in Malta early this year by Dream Team Studios.
In the film, Eckhart plays a hitman who finds out his CIA handler has been dead
for a long time. He plays his daughter, Breslin.Breslin accused Eckhart of
"aggressive, demeaning, and unprofessional" behavior on set, and the
lawsuit claims that this behavior caused the entire production .
As per the lawsuit, Breslin lodged a complaint with SAG-AFTRA, "blast Eckhart's
behavior," and expressed her anxieties. A request for a response from
Eckhart's agent was not answered.
Variety was informed by Breslin's agent that the producer's lawsuit has not yet been filed
with her and that she is sticking by her claims.
"Ms. Breslin vehemently refutes all contested accusations and unwaveringly maintains her
statement, which she discreetly furnished to SAG," the spokesperson said
in a release. The lawsuit claims the producer was compelled to make expensive
accommodations worth at least $80,000 in order to finish the film.
Breslin has allegedly since refused to sign her long-form contract and insisted on
receiving additional compensation in order to do so, according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit claims that the filmmakers could not have distributed the movie
without Breslin's signature and could not have received a tax credit from the
Maltese government.
There aren't many instances in which Breslin and Eckhart are seen together, according to the
producers; therefore, there have been "delivery issues with distribution
partners."
Since appearing in "August: Osage County," "Ender's Game," and
"Zombieland: Double Tap," Breslin has been nominated for an Academy
Award for her performance in "Little Miss Sunshine." For his parts in
"The Dark Knight" and "Thank You For Smoking," Eckhart is
well-known."Classified" stars Tim Roth as well.
Film productions in
Malta can receive substantial cash reimbursements of up to 40% of their
qualified production expenses.
