Problems with Cruz Azul, Guadalajara, and more
As Liga MX action begins this weekend with a Friday night
c, the Apertura 2023 is approaching its conclusion. Although the main matches are Toluca at León on Saturday and Monterrey at UNAM on Sunday,
tonight's Guadalajara at Puebla matchup has a lot of excitement.
The Chivas carry some luggage as they travel to Estadio Cuauhtémoc. Alexis Vega and Cristian
Calderón, two key players for the squad, were restored after a three-week
suspension for breaking team rules, although neither player has traveled to
Puebla.
Guadalajara management has received a lot of criticism for appearing to back down after
saying the offending players would be fired. However,
Such dramatic measure is prohibited by FIFA and Liga MX laws, thus the Chivas were forced to
abide by them.
In order for the Chivas to make a late-season push for a high playoff seed, coach Veljko
Paunovic must create harmony inside the locker room and revive some dignity.
Cruz Azul faces a Dueas conundrum.
The five-time Liga MX champion was dismissed by the Bravos during the summer after they claimed he had signed a one-year contract even though he insists he signed a three-year
one. Two weeks ago, we informed you about Jess Dueas' complaint against his
former side.thus when I found out about the case, Ownership of FC Juárez
complained about Cruz Azul, claiming that the Cementeros owed them money for
the buyout of Dueas.
The Bravos seem to be acknowledging that Dueas did, in fact, have a three-year contract and that
they intend to take use of it. Cruz Azul, who believed they had signed a shrewd
veteran for free, may need to pay some money in the meantime. The decision made
by league headquarters in this case will be interesting to watch.
We also believed that twin contracts' undesirable era was passed. Liga MX teams would then sign
a single contract with the player and submit documents to the league office
with a lower financial amount in order to lessen their tax liability. Then we
return to the Liga MX fields...
Following shoulder surgery in June, Carlos Acevedo of Santos Laguna has been given the all-clear
to play again. When Guillermo Ochoa retired as El Tri's starting goaltender, the
acrobatic goalie was once seen as his natural successor. However, the
goaltender struggled last season because to the injury.
Santos gave up 34 goals in the 16 games Acevedo started last season; the defense was terrible, so
not all of the mayhem can be ascribed to Acevedo's injury; Guerreros management
eventually shut him down after the team was eliminated in the playoffs.Although
he hasn't been named the starter just yet, the 27-year-old goalie will be back
in action. At Estadio Azteca on Saturday, the Guerreros take on the
league-leading América.
