For his Portsea house, TV icon Pete Smith is aiming for the deal of the century.
Pete Smith, the iconic Australian television host, along with
his spouse, are selling their cherished beachfront residence.
Along with his great friend Tony Barber and broadcast veteran Jackie Smith, the pair announced the game program Sale of the Century for 21 years. Their property is located on
Victoria's gorgeous Mornington Peninsula. The owner of this masthead, Nine, broadcasts
the game show. The couple has lived in Portsea for 50 years, having refurbished
the house at 26 Leyden Avenue 12 years ago. Together, their close friends have
made wonderful memories in their home.
The listing is being handled by Kay & Burton
Portsea through a private negotiation, with a $4 million to $4.2 million price
guidance.
Smith is a legendary figure in radio, television, and film, having gained recognition as a
reputable broadcaster and in-demand voice actor.
During the GTV-9 era, he became well-known as the booth announcer for Graham Kennedy's In
Melbourne Tonight and Ernie Sigley and Denise Drysdale's weekday morning show.
He also impressed viewers with his appearances and performances on comedy
shows, many of which he did with Tony Martin and Mick Molloy. The Smiths
collaborated with draftsman Ray Watts and award-winning local contractor Brynor
Constructions to implement a concept. On either side of the center pool, the
layout places wings of bedrooms and a rumpus area for a growing family. The
sun-drenched living and kitchen area is the pinnacle of this.
Large decks and an expansive alfresco atrium with a view of the pool are ideal for entertaining
family and friends, and the main bedroom features an adjacent lounge that
serves as a parent's haven.Smith tells Nine that they had enjoyed their stay in
the four-bedroom, three-bathroom house, which was made possible by their prior
property's subdivision.
Still, they are prepared to give up the keys and
return to being "city slickers," ideally to a young family.
The property, according to Smith, has been finished to the highest standard.
"This place was built with such care and
attention to detail—all the little things you don't think about," he
remarks. "Time flies by—our grandchildren are in
their 20s, and our kids are in their 50s now."
The Smith family will always have a connection to the peninsula because their son owns Panorama
Garden Estate, which is located in the neighboring Boneo area and has a nature
and animal reserve.
Director of Kay & Burton Liz Jensen, who is
managing the campaign alongside Tim Breadmore and Lorna Duffy, claims that a
variety of buyers would find the address appealing.
"The thoughtfully designed floor plan of the coastal home allows for both permanent
and vacation use," Jensen remarked.
"Living on one of the most beloved streets in the neighborhood is the epitome of Portsea
living."
