Al-Nassr continues to win the Asian Champions League with a Ronaldo double.
24 October-With a stunning double from Cristiano Ronaldo,
Al-Nassr maintained its unblemished record in the Asian Champions League on
Tuesday. The Saudi Pro League team defeated Al Duhail of Qatar 4-3 in Riyadh to
advance to nine points after three games in Group E.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward assisted Anderson Talisca in scoring
Al-Nassr's first goal in the 25th minute, followed by goals from Sadio Mane and
Ronaldo in the 61st and 61st minutes, respectively.
Before Ronaldo's shot restored their two-goal lead in the 81st minute, Ismaeel Mohammad and Almoez Ali brought Al Duhail back into the game. However, with five minutes
left, Michael Olunga scored Al Duhail's third goal to assure a tight conclusion.
With the victory, Al-Nassr advances three points ahead of Iran's Persepolis, who defeated FC
Istiklol of Tajikistan 2-0 in Tehran after seeing Alireza Beiranvand save Senin
Sebai's spot-kick attempt in the seventh minute.To give the home team their
second victory in three games and put them five points ahead of Al Duhail and
Istiklol, who each have one point, Saeid Sadeghi scored twice.
Alfred Schreuder's team defeated Al-Fayha of Saudi Arabia 4-1 to retain their flawless group A
record, advancing Al-Ain one step closer to the knockout stages.
Al-Ain displayed class as Kaku extended the advantage in first-half injury time after Kouaido
given the United Arab Emirates team the lead with a well-timed header in the
36th minute.
After Brazilian winger Erik surged down the left and Kaku finished easily to extend his team's
lead, Rahimi added a late fourth goal for his team to conclude an impressive
performance.
With three games remaining, the victory puts Al-Ain nine points ahead of Al-Fayha, Pakhtakor of Uzbekistan, and Ahal by a margin of six points.
With a 3-0 victory over the Turkmenistan team in Tashkent, Pakhtakor earned their first victory of the season. Hojimat Erkinov had given the Uzbeks the lead before Azizbek
Turgunboyev scored twice.
Only the top three finishers from the eastern and western parts of the draw will join the
champions of each of the competition's 10 groups in the final 16.
