The post-credits scene of Five Nights at Freddy's gives fans a jump scare.
Video games have long served as a source of inspiration for
live-action horror films. Examples include Silent Hill, Doom, and the zombie
survival horror series Resident Evil. Five Nights at Freddy's, which is
presently available for viewing in theaters and on Peacock for streaming, is
the most recent long-running video game series to receive a film adaptation.
Starring in The Hunger Games as a down-on-his-luck guy named Mike Schmidt, Josh Hutcherson gets a job as a nighttime security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a fast-food
franchise that resembles Chuck E. Cheese.
Over the course of his first several terrifying night shifts, Mike discovers that there is much
more to Freddy's adorable, animatronic mascots than meets the eye. This
specific facility has been closed for years due to the strange deaths of
several youngsters on the premises.
Warning: There will be mild spoilers.
There are many more places for this story to go, even if the plot of the Five Nights at Freddy's
film is essentially self-contained and purports to reveal the true villain and
answer the main question of how and why those deadly mascots keep coming to
life. Finally, in the movie, Vanessa, a police
officer with a personal connection to the killings, is in a coma, and Mike has
regained custody of his younger sister, despite being altered by his ordeals.
Which begs the question: Will there be a follow-up? Something like Six Nights at Freddy's? If
yes, does it explicitly hint at a follow-up film? There is a scene after the
credits that suggests further parts.
Five Nights at Freddy's includes a mid-credits scene that informs audiences that the carnage
is far from done, following the now-expected pattern of franchise movies. We
accompany YouTuber and gamer Cory Devante Williams, aka CoryxKenshin, as he
drives a cab in a brief scene that appears in the film.
After one final jump scare, Balloon Boy, one of Freddy's mascots, is seen seated in the back
seat.
One of the characters from the second Five Nights at Freddy's Game is called Balloon Boy.
Additionally, as the credits roll, viewers will hear the words "Come find
me" spelled out by a voice that is not human. Thus, yes. That is a really
eerie way to hint at a follow-up.
