In October, Garrett Wilson saw a rise in opportunities.
Following two consecutive successful games, a fantasy
football analyst predicts that the New York Jets' top wide receiver will score
in three straight games.
In two steady performances in victories over the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants,
Garrett Wilson averaged 7.5 receptions and 95 receiving yards. Additionally, he
has recently seen an increase in targets. Averaging 11.5 targets per game over
the last four games, the 2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year is making
progress. For Week 9 receivers, Sports Illustrated senior fantasy analyst
Michael Fabiano named Wilson the "Start of the Week" in his Start
'Em, Sit 'Em column—the definitive analysis of the best and worst matchups
using a PPR scoring system.
Wilson leads the Jets in receptions (39) and receiving yards (469) for the season. This year, he has yet to have a receiving performance below 48 yards in a game. His stat line
has been spotless, other than a deficiency in touchdowns. Wilson has not scored
a touchdown in five straight games, despite scoring in his victories over
Dallas and Buffalo.
"They have numerous players who can score from any spot on the field, including running
backs like Garrett Wilson," defensive back Derwin James of the Chargers said.
WEEK'S STARTING
Garrett Wilson versus the Chargers (ESPN, Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET): Wilson has been playing with
a lot of energy and has scored 17 points or more in each of his last two games.
Plus, he's scored at least 15 in three of his last four games, so playing the
Chargers should help him. With most of Wilson's routes being run out wide,
their defense has given up the second-most points to perimeter receivers. This week,
he might finish in the top 15.
