DASHYA YOUNG How can you answer the six accusations of conspiring to interfere with an election's proper conduct on purpose?
Sidney Powell declares guilt.
DETROW: Two of the 19 accused in the case are Powell and Trump. Powell's trial had a jury selection date scheduled for tomorrow. Sam Gringlas from WABE is here with us from Atlanta. Sam, hello.
SAM Byline: GRINGLAS Scott, hello.
DETROW: So first, let's review Sidney Powell's position in assisting Trump and in the run-up to the election.
GRINGLAS: After the 2020 election, Sidney Powell served as a
Trump campaign attorney.
DETROW: She was quite unrepentant the entire time, especially when she was
promoting these conspiracy ideas that had zero basis in reality. However, she
enters a guilty plea in this instance, just before the trial. Who or what did
she specifically beg?
RINGLAS: I agree. Powell entered a plea of guilty to six counts of conspiracy to engage in willful meddling with the conduct of an election. Powell instructed an IT company to access the voting machines in the isolated Coffee County, Georgia. This occurred after the election, when Trump's supporters were looking for proof of election tampering. State investigators eventually discovered that they had access to a server, voting machines, and memory cards. Powell was not the only one accused in this case, though. One of them, Scott Hall, a bail bondsman, entered a guilty plea last month.
