Michigan and Michigan State
After tension erupted last year, Michigan easily defeated
Michigan State football in this year's annual matchup. Michigan won by a score
of 49-0, dominating the game from start to end.
When these two teams last faced off, there was a post-game altercation in the tunnel at
Michigan Stadium that ultimately resulted in legal action against players from
MSU and overshadowed Michigan's convincing 29-7 victory to capture the Paul
Bunyan Trophy. This time, there were no confrontations, but Michigan State was
forced to apologize for playing a pregame Adolf Hitler image on the jumbotron.
Since then, despite numerous NCAA probes, Michigan has continued to soar to the top of the
collegiate football world. After five straight losses, MSU sacked head coach
Mel Tucker for cause due to a sexual harassment claim and is now last in the
Big Ten.
The 116th contest of the intrastate competition took place at Michigan State. The first-ever
night game in East Lansing in the history of the series began at 7:30 p.m. at
Spartan Stadium, and it was broadcast on NBC and livestreamed on Peacock and
Fubo (free trial). As a 2512-point favorite going into the game, Michigan.
